Jan's Bike - Our only lady rider.March 2002

A low stress destination; a low stress ride.

Thirteen BUG bikes took the trip to our March destination of Grenfell on Sunday. We headed out through Blayney to Mandurama, then onto the some of those sweet secondary roads which motorcyclists like so much. The scenery was good too - plenty of sweeping valleys with the Weddin Mountains forming a distant backdrop. A small, main street café in Canowindra supplied coffee and cool drinks for morning tea and we noted that William had a huge hamburger!

From Canowindra we headed to Cowra, again via secondary roads (a system of multiple intersections around the vineyards) where most took the opportunity to refuel. A reasonably high speed section followed which took us directly to Grenfell.

It was an extremely hot day but the air-conditioned Grenfell Bowling Club supplied a welcome meal of either roast beef, lamb chops or John Dory fillets (locally caught?). We were quite impressed with the meal that included dessert and coffee and tea for just $9.

Several bikes headed directly home after lunch and the main group sought out more back roads via Goolagong to Canowindra. A very dusty section of dirt road resorted the order a little before we briefly stopped at Cargo for ice creams and a quiet chat. We headed home directly from Orange (through the traffic), arriving back in Bathurst around 5pm.
